Pyrolytic Boron Nitride (PBN)

Pyrolytic boron nitride (PBN) is produced by chemical vapor deposition (CVD), where boron and nitrogen react on a graphite surface to form dense layers of hexagonal boron nitride. The result is an ultra-pure, uniform ceramic with excellent heat and chemical resistance. Because of its layered structure, PBN conducts heat primarily along the surface while acting as a strong electrical insulator across it. This unique anisotropic behavior makes it ideal for crystal-growth systems, semiconductor processes, and high-temperature vacuum applications.
