Through vertically integrated production, from refining and alloying to machining and bonding, Vital Materials delivers complete control over material purity, microstructure, and mechanical stability. We produce both planar and rotary targets, customized to specific coating systems and process conditions.

What Are Sputtering Targets

Sputtering targets are the source materials used in vacuum coating equipment. Under high-energy plasma bombardment, atoms from the target material are ejected and deposited as a thin film onto a substrate. This process enables the creation of coatings with advanced electrical, optical, and mechanical properties.

Depending on the composition and application, sputtering targets can be made from:

  • Pure metals
  • Alloys
  • Ceramics and oxides
  • Precious metals and specialized compounds
