Thermal Imaging Germanium

Germanium

The Infrared Business Unit of Vital Materials can provide a variety of germanium products such as germanium tetrachloride, germanium dioxide, reduced germanium, zone germanium ingot, solar germanium, and infrared germanium. As an important rare metal, germanium is widely applied in fields of aerospace, semiconductor, optical fiber communication, infrared optics, solar cells, biomedicine and others.
It can also act as the doping agent for quartz-based optical fibers. Germanium tetrachloride can increase the refractive index of the fiber core, reduce the optical loss and thus increase the transmission distance of the optical fiber. It is mainly used in the field of optical fiber communication.

Germanium has good light transmittance within the infrared wave band and opacity in the visible spectrum. It is the most common material for making infrared optical lenses and infrared optical windows within the wave band range of 2-14μm.
